Oriental Beauty (Competition Tea) 苗栗東方美人，2025比賽茶

Oriental Beauty (Dong Fang Mei Ren / 東方美人茶) is one of Taiwan’s most renowned teas. More than a century ago, it became a favorite of Queen Victoria, who is said to have bestowed the poetic name “Oriental Beauty” after being captivated by the elegance of the leaf and the brilliant amber color of its infusion.

The tea is celebrated for its distinctive flavor profile — rich honey sweetness layered with bright, fruity notes reminiscent of tropical fruits. This unique taste comes from a remarkable natural process: while the leaf is still on the stem, it is delicately bitten by the tea jassid (a small leafhopper insect). The bite triggers an early oxidation in the leaf, enhancing its fragrance and giving Oriental Beauty its signature honeyed aroma and complex character.

東方美人茶的天然蜜香源自一種特殊的製程，稱為「著涎」。在茶葉尚未採收時，小綠葉蟬啜食嫩芽，促使茶葉提早氧化，形成其獨一無二的蜜香與果韻，風味層次極為迷人。
